Stoke Bruerne and Hatton Locks

This project for Red Kite Environment on behalf of British Waterways Board in 2007 was to create tactile maps of two BWB sites at Stoke Bruerne village and Hatton Locks.

The Stoke Bruerne map shows the village and the landscape adjacent to the section of the Grand Union canal that runs through it.

The Hatton Lock map shows five locks at the top of the Hatton flight (known as the Stairway to Heaven). Each lock is represented in a different phase of lock operation.

Each installation is cast in bronze finish resin and includes large print and Braille acrylic lettering and key.

The Stoke Bruerne tactile map displayed in the BWB Museum gift shop alongside the canal.
